Packaging

 

The extendable closet will be packed in three different boxes. Every box will contain one of the three closet compartments, which makes up the closet. This will make the assembly of the whole closet easier because of the many components. The boxes are perfectly stackable in pairs of two in the BZ(L) paper pallet, a pallet IKEA frequently uses.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

One Package

While designing the box, the size of the pallet has been taken into account.. The width of the parts and the boxes are determined, so that there fit exactly two packages on one pallet.

 

 

One Pallet

The three compartments of the Storsjön are separately packed. One pallet exists of two rows of nine packages.To facilitate the consumer, the boxes of the same compartment are placed on one pallet. This means that the package of, for example, the middle frame is placed on one pallet and the package of the outer frame is placed on another pallet. Thanks to this, the consumer has not to look between the boxes, but only between the different pallets.

 

 

Loaded Truck back

There fit two loaded pallets on each other. It would fit better inside the truck when there would be one pallet with nine boxes placed above a box of ten pallets, but for the convenience of the retail workers both pallets are of the same height.

 

 

Loaded Truck side

The total amount of pallets that fit in the truck is 3*6*2 = 36 pallets. Each pallet exists of 18 boxes, so the total amount of packages that can be transported in one truck is 18*36 = 648 packages. The Storsjön exists of three compartments which are separately packaged, therefore it is possible to transport 648 / 3 = 216 Storsjön’s in one truckload.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The weight of the heaviest pallet is less than the maximum pallet load, so this will not be a problem. The weight of a full loaded truck filled with the heaviest pallets is less than the maximum truck load, so this will not be a problem either.
