Materials
Windows
This is the main component that will result in making the firm partition of the Storsjön. The windows are made of a perspex plate because, it is a light replacement of normal glass. It is also less brittle, so it will not break as easy.
Framework
The framework is built out of IKEA wood. One might think that this is not the ideal material to use in the bathroom. However, this problem is easily solved. The wood will receive a coating, so it will never come in contact with water.
The coating will consist out of multiple layers for maximum efficiency. The first layer will be a layer of paint so the wood is fully covered and can be painted in every possible colour. The second layer will consist out of a scratch proof polymer to offer additional protection for the wood.
Storage
There will be two kinds of storing facilities, one, the cabinets, will be attached to the dry side of the Storsjön and the other, the soap trays will be attached to the wet side of the closet. Because of how these components will be used, the materials differ from each other.
The cabinets on the dry side will be made of the same material as the framework, so they will have a wooden core with coatings on top to protect it.
The soap trays on the wet side of the Storsjön will be made of perspex, because they are always in contact with the water. In this way, there will not be any corrosion and the Storsjön can be used for a long time.
The handles
The handles, which are used to open and close the Storsjön, are made of stainless steel. This material is chosen, because it will not corrade in contact with water. It also has a nice feel to it so the Storsjön will feel like a high quality piece of furniture.
