Construction manual
The construction of Störsjon may seem complicated at first sight, but it is not as complex as the many different parts might suggest. In this chapter the construction order of the closet will be discussed. The construction consists of 45 parts. The construction of the frames, the attachment of the rails to the frames, the connection of the three loose closet parts, the attachment of the entire closet to the wall and finally the attachment of the soap racks and the cabinets.
Construction of the frames
The frames consist of four different types of parts. The large side beams, the upper and lower beams, which support the third part, the Perspex plate and the eight smaller beams which hold the perspex plate in place.
These different parts will be put together to be a framework as explained in figure on the right. The top and bottom beam will be connected with cam lock screws and nuts because these connections hold the frame together. The middle beams will be connected with dowels because they are held in place by the large beams.
Attachment of the rails to the frames
The rails will be mounted with short thick screws. Between the rails and the closet, a rubber patch will be placed to prevent the leakage of water as seen in the figure on the left.
Attachment of the frames to eachother
The next step is to attach the different frameworks to eachother. This step is pretty straightforward. A pair of rails of one closet fits perfectly over the pair of rails of one of the other closets and the last closets rails will fit over the remaining unattached pair of rails of the middle closet.
Wall attachment
The closet is connected to the wall with two bent metal profiles as seen in the figure on the right. The top profile will be screwed to the wall and at the top part of the closet with both four screws. Between the metal profile and the top shelf of the closet rubbers will be placed to prevent leaking of water in the holes. The bottom profile will be screwed to the wall with two screws and to the closet with four screws as seen in the figure on the right.
Cabinets and soap racks
The last step of the construction of Störsjon is the construction and attachment of the cabinets and soap racks.
The construction of the wooden cabinets is done as described
in the figure on the right. The five plates which form the cabinet will be connected with dowels. Afterwards, the cabinet will be screwed to the framework with cam lock screws and bolts.
The construction of the soap racks will be completed before they are attached to the closet as a whole. The square ends of the horizontal shelves will fit through the vertical plates. At the other end a conus will be put in a pre-made hole so the shelves stay in place.
Once completed, one of the last steps is to attach the soap racks to the closet. Four holes with countersink will be made all the way through the large beams of the frame. Then, four allen screws will be inserted in the holes. On the other side the acrylic cabinet will fit on the allen screws through pre made holes. To keep everything in place a square nut will be placed in the opening. At the bathroom side the hole where the allen screw is put, will be covered. See the figure below for a visual explanation.
The last step is to attach the handlebars to the Störsjon. The outside handle will be attached to the large beams of the frame using Allen screws and cam lock screws as shown in figure hier rechtsonder. The inside handles will be clamped in place using two bent plates and a handlebar as shown in the figure below.
